RE: diesel OR gas

Although I like diesels for towing, in your situation of low towing mileage, get a gasser. But get what you want. I just wanted a diesel and I got one. Mine sits in my driveway majority of the time as I mostly work at home and I have another vehicle for driving around town.

RE: Downsizing

This thread makes me want to stay with my PUP. I'm thinking about getting a 5th trailer as I already have the diesel for it. But the more I think about it and the more threads I read like these, I think we will stay a PUPer for several more years. I can't complain about not having enough TV to tow my trailer though. As for the toilet/shower, we have one of these shower/toilet cassette units. We have stayed comfortable for over a week in non-stop raining. PUPing is great if you have majority of the amenities in the unit.

RE: Chevy Astro Van TV

it should be okay. just get some airbags to level the van. BTW, I still have my Astro van and although it looks boxy, it is very roomy inside.

RE: Need tips on PUP longevity

Keep the PUP in an enclosed garage. My unit is 8 years old and it looks newer than my friend's 4 year old PUP. They leave it outside all year.

RE: ziploc omelete?

We just came back from camping and we have already tried this approach/method. It works great when you have a large group. Don't use the 13 minute as to determine when it is cooked. Some may have more ingredients and thus will require more time to cook. How I determine if it is cooked is to squeeze the pouch with a tong and if liquid (egg) squeezes out, it is not cooked.

RE: Wakeup times when camping with kids?

No issues with my kids. They are late birds. I can't even get my son out of bed until after 9AM. I wish I have your issue, as we are wasting good sun light in the early morning.

RE: Debit or bank bill pay, which is better/safer

In online banking, you can view the front and back of your checks. This is very convenient if you ever have to 'prove' it was paid. You can screen print the check (front and back).

RE: Debit or bank bill pay, which is better/safer

I always use our online banking to pay bills. Not only is it more convenient, secure, and fast; it is also a way to save money (no more stamps). The bank mails the check/bill and I don't have too.

RE: New guy looking for advice

Looks like a good unit. Good price for a unit that has A/C, Shower/Toilet, and all the other comfort features of 'home'. Welcome to the Popups. We have been Puping for over 8 years now and we look forward to every season to start our camping adventures.

RE: furnace in Pu

My furnace control is located under our table. Two sliders. The bottom is an off/on and the top is for the temp. I too only use the furnace before going to sleep and in the morning to warm up. As our Pup also has a shower, we use it too when taking a shower so that we stay warm. As for three-way, that is only for the frig. The furnace will use AC/DC for the fan and propane for fuel to burn/warm.

RE: Dump Station Rules?

There is no rule. But a long time ago during my driving lessons (I do mean a very long time ago), the instructor told me when stopping, if I could see the tires of the vehicle in front of me, the distance is good. If you can't see the tires, you are too close.

RE: Expensive, but Interesting (C.A.M.P. Technologies)

This seems to be way too expensive even for a very nice tent. Looks like a lot of work to put this up. It is a 'tent' trailer, but the it is not off the group. In addition, for the same footprint, I believe our regular tent trailer has just a much interior space as this product. Again, way overprice - twice the cost of a regular tent trailer.

RE: Camp Fire Etiquette???

I will admit this. I TOO do list. I normally stay thru to Monday and whatever wood I find leftover from the campers that leave on Sunday, I TAKE. I actually look forward to when the campers leave on Sunday so that I can have this fun. I do use this 'wood' for my Sunday campfire. So, please think about me when you leave. Thanks. :)

RE: 2007 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L, question.....

Depending on your bed side, short = smaller tank, long = larger tank. I have a short bed and thus the smaller tank. I too wanted a longer range; thus I swapped out the OEM tank with a larger after market midship tank. With a short bed, space is valuable in the bed. With the larger after market tank, I now have a range of 800-900 miles (empty).

RE: how many of you have generators?

We do 95% plus drying camping and we do like our electricty to run our gadgets. It is needed to run our hair dryers, microwave, AC, TV, etc. But the number one thing I use it for is the charge my trailer battery.
